Modern Slavery Statement
At Footprints, we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all aspects of our business. We recognise that modern slavery and human trafficking are grave violations of human rights and take a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of exploitation.
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps we have taken, and continue to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking do not occur within our business or supply chains.
1. Our Organisation, Structure & Supply Chains
Footprints is a residential care service that provides person-centred care and support to vulnerable individuals in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. We operate within the UK, and our supply chains include providers of food, healthcare equipment, staff uniforms, facility services, recruitment services, and training providers.
2. Our Policies on Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking
We have implemented a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy which outlines our commitment to preventing slavery and trafficking in all its forms. This policy is supported by our wider Code of Conduct, Whistleblowing Policy, and Safeguarding Policy, all of which promote transparency, ethical behaviour, and accountability across all levels of our organisation.
3. Due Diligence Processes
We undertake due diligence when engaging with new suppliers and regularly review existing supply chains to assess potential risks. Our processes include:
-
Risk assessments of suppliers, especially those in sectors or regions with a higher risk of labour exploitation.
-
Contractual commitments from suppliers to adhere to the Modern Slavery Act and applicable labour laws.
-
A supplier vetting process that includes ethical standards checks.
4. Risk Assessment & Management
We have identified areas within our supply chain that carry a higher risk, particularly in relation to outsourced services (e.g., agency staff, cleaning, and catering). To manage these risks, we:
-
Work with trusted suppliers who share our values and commitment to human rights.
-
Include modern slavery clauses in supplier contracts.
-
Encourage openness and the reporting of any concerns relating to unethical or illegal practices.
5. Measuring Effectiveness
To monitor our effectiveness in combating modern slavery, we:
-
Review our supply chain annually.
-
Monitor reports or complaints raised via our whistleblowing or grievance channels.
-
Engage in regular internal audits of our procurement and recruitment processes.
-
Maintain an incident log and investigation process for any identified risks.
6. Training & Capacity Building
All staff, including management, receive training on modern slavery as part of their induction and ongoing development. This training helps our team:
-
Understand the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking.
-
Know how to report concerns safely and effectively.
-
Uphold our organisational values of dignity, respect, and protection for all individuals.
We remain committed to continual improvement in this area and to working collaboratively with partners and suppliers to safeguard the rights and welfare of all people connected to our organisation.
